Anthony Martial and two others deemed “sellable” by Manchester United
Anthony Martial has been deemed as “sellable” by Manchester United this summer, alongside two other players.
This is according to Samuel Luckhurst of Manchester Evening News, who claims that Manchester United are open to selling the French striker this summer.
Martial has suffered a series of major injury problems this season, having missed 20 matches through injury so far this campaign.
Martial recently returned to the United first-team squad during the side’s 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest last week and scored, however was absent from the matchday squad during United’s 2-1 Premier League win against Crystal Palace last weekend.
“When he is there, he’s really important for us because we play our best football when he is available,” Erik ten Hag recently said on the striker. “He has to be aware of that as well. If we want to be successful, we need him. And the first thing is he has to be available.”
Martial’s availability has been a pressing issue within the squad, hence why when Cristiano Ronaldo had his contract terminated in November, Ten Hag decided to bring in Wout Weghorst on a six-month loan in order to bolster his attacking options.
Within the report, two other players have been named as options United are looking to move on this summer: left-back Alex Telles and current club captain Harry Maguire.
Harry Maguire has lost his place as Manchester United’s starting centre-back this season, with Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez forming a brilliant partnership since Erik ten Hag took charge of the team.
Alex Telles has been on loan at Sevilla so far this season, and his naming as part of Manchester United’s selling list will come as no surprise to many, with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia firmly locking their names down as Ten Hag’s top two choices in the position.
A different report from the Mirror has claimed that United are looking to sell up to six players, with Eric Bailly, Donny van de Beek, and Scott McTominay among those Ten Hag is considering letting go this summer.
