Angel Gomes and Bruno Fernandes congratulate Man United star on “special” achievement
Angel Gomes and Bruno Fernandes were among those to congratulate Marcus Rashford on reaching 400 appearances for Manchester United.
Rashford, 26, completed the feat when he came off the bench against Newcastle United on Wednesday evening after being injured for a short period.
The United No. 10 has started 293 games for the club and registered 195 direct goal contributions.
While the campaign has been disappointing for Rashford and the club, it is a milestone that would make the Academy graduate extremely proud.
Taking to Instagram after the 3-2 victory, Rashford wrote: “It’s a special feeling to say that I have played 400 times for United. Thank you.”
Current and ex-United players flooded to the comments to congratulate the 26-year-old, with Bruno Fernandes being one of them. The club captain replied, “400 more to come.”
Rasmus Højlund, who scored on the night, commented: “Congrats rashy!”
Angel Gomes also congratulated his former teammate on the landmark. He departed United in 2020 after rising through the academy, although he is linked with a return this summer. He commented ‘400’ with four clapping emojis.
One of Rashford’s academy teammates, Demetri Mitchell, who is now playing his trade at League One club Exeter City, added: “400 is crazy.”
Rashford will be looking to end the season strongly, with the final Premier League game against Brighton and the FA Cup final against Manchester City coming up.
He will then be keen to return next season in improved form to help United have a more successful campaign.
