“Buy better…” – Andy Cole urges INEOS to avoid Man United summer target
Former Manchester United striker Andy Cole says Manchester United should avoid signing Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo this summer.
Making eighteen Premier League appearances for Fulham so far this season, Adarabioyo has played his part in the Cottagers picking up a clean sheet on five occasions.
UtdDistrict understands that as of the end of last month, United were “heavily interested” in bringing Adarabioyo to Old Trafford this summer.
With Erik ten Hag still heavily involved in preparing for INEOS‘ summer transfer plans as of the time of writing, Adarabioyo has been identified due to several qualities in his game.
In particular, several at United have been impressed with the 26-year-old’s ball-playing and aerial abilities.
However, though there is clear interest on United’s side, former striker Andy Cole does not believe Adarabioyo is at the level required to play for the Red Devils.
“If you look at all the centre-backs that are currently at Manchester United, then would you say that Tosin is better than any of them? I don’t think he is,” Cole told BetFred.
“If Manchester United are looking to get themselves back to where they once were, competing for major honours, then they should be looking to bring in the same types of players that Manchester City, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Barcelona are looking to bring in.
“If you want to improve your squad, then you need to bring in better than what you’ve already got. I think Tosin is as good as what the club already has at their disposal, but to go to the next level, you need to buy better than what you’ve already got.”
