Analyst says Ruben Amorim’s tactical approach will hugely benefit one Man United player who struggled under Erik ten Hag
An analyst has claimed that Ruben Amorim’s tactical approach will hugely benefit one Manchester United player who struggled under Erik ten Hag.
Manchester United have approached Sporting Lisbon with an offer to trigger the release clause for manager Ruben Amorim.
Amorim, who has guided Sporting to the top of the Portuguese league with an unbeaten record this season, is open to the switch following United’s sacking of Erik ten Hag.
The 39-year-old is now the leading candidate for the head coach role, and United are keen to secure his appointment swiftly.
It has been widely claimed that he will begin his duties at Old Trafford during the November international break, with his first game coming away from home against Ipswich Town.
Højlund set to hugely benefit from Amorim
Rasmus Højlund has shown great promise at United since his 2023 move from Italian side Atalanta. He scored 16 goals in his debut campaign despite injury issues.
However, it hasn’t always been easy for the striker, who has sometimes ghosted through games while United struggled to work with a natural centre-forward.
YouTube analyst ‘Pythagoras in Boots‘ has uploaded a tactical guide of Amorim’s approach ahead of his United move.
In the detailed video, which you can view below, it was explained how Højlund would be the centre of attention of Amorim’s offensive approach and would no longer be ‘starved of service’ like he was at times under Ten Hag.
“The key thing to look out for and remember is that Sporting Lisbon’s strategy is very geared towards the centre-forward. It’s all about servicing the centre-forward,” the analyst explained.
“Very different to Ten Hag’s Manchester United where the wing-forwards were almost encouraged to be selfish.
“Højlund at times was starving of service – you will not see that issue under Amorim, his whole system is geared towards feeding the centre-forward.”
