Manchester United winger Amad Diallo provided the perfect answer when asked about his Liverpool goal ahead of the FA Cup final this weekend.
The Reds have one final chance of making the season a success with victory at Wembley on Saturday afternoon.
Yet, facing Manchester City will be no walk in the park. United finished the Premier League season in eighth while Pep Guardiola’s men won the title.
Amad Diallo seems likely to start the final after showing positive form since coming into the team against Arsenal.
The Ivorian was also the player who kept the club’s FA Cup dreams alive with his last-gasp winner against Liverpool in the quarter-finals.
However, when asked by talkSPORT about the 121st-minute goal ahead of the final, Amad ensured that his focus is now fully on the cup final.
“It was an unbelievable moment for me,” he replied. “But the most important thing now is that we’re in the final. We need to forget about Liverpool, we are in the final.”
Further asked whether he took satisfaction that his goal ‘derailed’ Liverpool’s campaign, Amad simply smiled and added, “I was happy to score that goal, so I’m happy.”
Despite having arguably the moment of the season so far for United, it means nothing if United cannot defy the odds and win against City this weekend.
It has taken time for Amad to get his chance under Erik ten Hag, but the winger is now keen to show his abilities and continue developing at Old Trafford.
“I want to keep improving every day, every game,” he added. “I have worked a lot for this moment, and now I want to take it.”
