“All the qualities…” – Bruno Fernandes has already given Manchester United green light for surprise signing

Bruno Fernandes has already given the green light for Manchester United to make a surprise signing in the summer transfer window.

Following a dismal campaign, Manchester United are moving quickly in the transfer market in a bid to turn things around ahead of next season.

Matheus Cunha has already been unveiled as Ruben Amorim’s first addition of the summer, while Bryan Mbeumo is eager to join him, with talks set to begin with Brentford this week.

United are also in the market for a new striker, with several options to consider, and the addition of all three players would significantly strengthen a misfiring attack.

After missing out on their favoured no.9 in Liam Delap, it remains unclear who the Reds will opt to sign this summer although there are a number of different goalscorers on the market.

United could make surprise signing after being offered Ramos

Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyökeres are probably the two favoured strikers within the fanbase, however, it seems unlikely that the Reds are going to be able to match their demands after signing both Cunha and Mbeumo for around £60 million each.

Instead, it feels like United will try and sign a cheaper option for the striker role, especially because those players behind now offer guaranteed quality and goals too.

MailSport revealed this week that United have been offered the chance to sign Goncalo Ramos from Paris Saint-Germain by intermediaries this summer.

It was explained that the 23-year-old has been deemed surplus to requirements in France under Luis Enrique. He was signed from Benfica in 2023 for around £60 million but has failed to impress since then.

Those at Old Trafford were actually eyeing Ramos in that same summer but opted to sign Rasmus Højlund from Atalanta instead. Now, they might end up going back in for the PSG star if the price is right.

Fernandes already urged United to sign Ramos

If there was a chance to sign Ramos this summer, United captain Bruno Fernandes would certainly be a fan of the move. He actually urged his club to sign him back in 2023.

Fernandes has worked closely with Ramos in the Portugal setup and he sung his praises in May 2023, claiming that the striker can become one of the best in the world.

“Gonçalo has all the conditions to play in the Premier League,” Bruno said. “He is very intense, presses very well and is very good in the area.

“Physically he is strong, he is still young and will get better. If you continue to work as you have done, I think you have the potential to be one of the best spearheads in the world, but he still needs to go to a more competitive league to demonstrate it.

“Here the best always work, be it Gonçalo or another player. I think he has all the qualities to play in the Premier League, and when I say in the Premier League I also say Manchester United, but it’s not in my hands yet to be a sports director. When I am, I will make these decisions.”

Of course, since those comments, Ramos has had a really difficult time at PSG but it remains clear that Fernandes rates him highly and would probably be happy if the move happened. For United, it could become an interesting market opportunity if the French club limit their demands.
