Alejandro Garnacho has been “dealt with” by Man United following social media incident
Manchester United have reportedly addressed Alejandro Garnacho’s social media activity after the forward liked several tweets criticising Erik ten Hag.
The 19-year-old Argentina international liked two tweets from YouTuber Mark Goldbridge that heavily criticised Erik ten Hag’s decision-making during United’s 2-2 Premier League draw against Bournemouth.
In particular, the tweets labelled Ten Hag’s decision to substitute Garnacho at half-time as a “joke”.

Additionally, the tweet claimed that Ten Hag’s decision to substitute Garnacho ‘threw the 19-year-old under the bus’. With the decision made due to the Dutchman being “clearly scared of upsetting the bigger earners”.
Ten Hag had explained to reporters after the Bournemouth match that the decision to substitute Garnacho was because United, “had to repair over the right side.” He also brought attention to the fact that Garnacho had limited time to train before the match.
A spokesperson from United has reportedly communicated to the Manchester Evening News, that Garnacho’s social media activities have been dealt with “internally”.
The club additionally brought attention to the fact the tweets liked by Garnacho’s account were quickly unliked.
They did however decline to comment on exactly what the outcome of Garnacho’s social media activity was, refusing to confirm or deny if the attacker was disciplined for his actions.
Garnacho’s incident is far from the first time Ten Hag has had to deal with discipline issues during what has been a tumultuous two seasons at the club.
Previously, Ten Hag has had to discipline several of his key players including Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo. Lately, there have also been rumours of a rift between Ten Hag and Antony.
This season, Garnacho has made 42 appearances, 33 of those being starts. In that time he has scored 9 goals and picked up 4 assists.
