Alan Shearer has agreed with Erik ten Hag that one Manchester United star did something “incredible” during the club’s win over Brentford.

Manchester United completed a dramatic 2-1 comeback against Brentford at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon, taking home all three points after going behind.

Ethan Pinnock headed Brentford into the lead just before the break, but United fought back in the second half. Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Højlund both found the net, with Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes providing the crucial assists to seal the victory.

Matthijs de Ligt delivered a standout performance in defence, playing through a head injury that left him bloodied in the first half but still commanding at the back.

This win lifts United back into the top half of the Premier League, as they aim to recover from their rough start to the 2024/25 season.

Rashford’s “incredible” moment

While Højlund and Garnacho rightfully collect their praise, another player that must be highlighted for his fantastic display is Rashford.

Speaking on BBC’s Match of the Day programme, all-time Premier League record goalscorer Alan Shearer was full of praise for the English winger, explaining that the winger produced an “incredible” cross for Garnacho’s goal.

Shearer said: “You’re about to see an incredible cross. Yes, he’s got other options, but look at the cross here. He picks him out with perfection, and the finish, oh. Unbelievable goal. So many good things about that.”

Ten Hag agrees on Rashford

Ten Hag shares the opinion of the brilliance of Rashford’s cross with Alan Shearer.

Speaking after the game, the Dutch manager said: “The cross from Rashy [Marcus Rashford] was brilliant, and it was a brilliant finish from Garnacho.”

However, he also reserved praise for Christian Eriksen, Bruno Fernandes and Højlund for their combination for the side’s winning goal in front of the Stretford End.

“For the second goal, the pass from [Christian] Eriksen, the flick from Bruno [Fernandes] and the finish from Rasmus, it was so beautiful. Of course, we’re happy Rasmus is back, as we miss his goals.”
