Wout Weghorst is prepared to personally pay the loan termination fee of his contract at Besiktas if they are not willing to cooperate to allow him a dream move to Manchester United.

That’s according to Turkish reporter Gökhan Dinç and the information comes out following a statement from the Süper Lig club on Monday afternoon, where they dismissed claims that there is €‎2.5 million termination clause in Weghorst’s contract amid United’s interest.

The statement read: “The claim that there is an exit clause in our football player’s contract, stating that his contract can be terminated with a compensation of €‎2.5 million in case of an offer from the Premier League, is fictitious.

“However, the news that the player in question will leave the team on Tuesday is completely untrue. The initiative regarding Wout Weghorst belongs entirely to Beşiktaş. If there is a development on this issue, the information will be shared.”

The former Wolfsburg talisman moved to Burnley last summer but following their relegation from the Premier League, he joined the Turkish outfit.

Further reports from Mark Ogden have added that the 30-year-old striker has made it clear to his current club that he wants to grasp the opportunity of playing at the Theatre of Dreams and that he could be holding a United shirt this week.

Besiktas manager Senol Günes also addressed the situation with his on-loan forward for the first time in his recent press conference.

“He is an important player for us,” said Günes. “But of course, that is not enough. He will have to talk to the club first.

“I have heard that there are developments, but the transfer is not yet complete. He can only leave if he has spoken to me and the club first.”
