Manchester United chiefs are undergoing an ‘intense’ week as they once again discuss Erik ten Hag’s future at the club.

Ten Hag ended the 2023/24 campaign with victory in the FA Cup final against Manchester City in what was a tactical masterclass against Pep Guardiola’s men.

The Dutchman has now won two trophies in as many years at Old Trafford, but the team’s eighth-placed finish was a more concerning position last term.

Injuries and various behind-the-scenes factors are all being considered in the internal review INEOS, and their team are conducting as they decide whether to stick or twist with Ten Hag.

It has now been over two weeks since the United boss jetted to a holiday destination following the season’s end, and the process has not yet been concluded.

Fabrizio Romano has detailed the latest updates in relation to the situation – which he describes as an “intense” weekend.

The Italian journalist also provided a worrying update for Ten Hag, stating that those at United are still talking to representatives of other managers. However, he did clarify that the final decision still lies in the balance.

United have been linked with the likes of Thomas Tuchel and Mauricio Pochettino should they decide to part ways with the Dutchman.

“This weekend is a very intense one behind the scenes at Man United, despite things being very quiet around the future of Erik ten Hag. However, many things are happening,” he told his Daily Briefing.

“I’m told that Man United are still talking to the representatives of other managers as the future of Ten Hag is still not safe as of right now.

“The Manchester club are yet to make a decision on their Dutch coach and are taking their time to make sure they make the right move. There are many people involved in this, including the board and the new co-owners.

“The situation is still 50/50 as we wait for Manchester United to make their final decision.”

It was no surprise to hear the club communicating with the representatives of managers beforehand, but that they are still in talks with them seems a worrying sign for Ten Hag.

Either they are not close to making the final decision that fans are waiting for, or the Dutchman is in a spot of bother.
