Manchester United welcome Leeds United to Old Trafford on Wednesday evening as Erik ten Hag’s side look to collect another important three points.

The Whites sacked manager Jesse Marsch on Monday afternoon after they dropped to 17th in the Premier League following their weekend loss against Nottingham Forest.

They will face Ten Hag’s side in back-to-back games, with the first being played at the Theatre of Dreams on Wednesday.

However, despite being the only top-flight fixture taking place on the day, none of the UK broadcasters are showing the game on television.

Why is Man United vs Leeds not on TV?

This United game was a rescheduled fixture from earlier in the season and was originally set to take place on Sunday 18th September 2022 and was questionably not selected for TV broadcast on that date.

However, the passing of the Queen forced the encounter to be delayed due to the fact that there would not be enough police at the ground on the day, as it was being played the day before Her Magisty’s funeral.

The ruling states that a rescheduled fixture that was originally not set to be shown on TV is not able to be shown on live TV in the UK, even if there are no alternative fixtures on that date.

The 3:00pm blackout is something that has been criticised more and more in the modern age. It was introduced in the 1960s, with the main aim being an encouragement to attend fixtures in real life.

However, the extraordinary pricing to watch top-level football now is a burden to many football fans, who believe they should be able to watch the 3:00pm games on the television.

Even those who are season ticket holders and also have subscriptions to Sky Sports, Amazon Prime and BT Sport will still be unable to watch certain games across the campaign.
