Who is Tyrese Noubissie? Manchester United in talks to land wonderkid from rivals Manchester City

Manchester United are in talks to sign Manchester City wonderkid Tyrese Noubissie as well as Seth Ridgeon from Fulham as INEOS continues their commitment to signing the world’s best young talent, but just who is the 16-year-old?

Tyrese Noubissie could become a Manchester United player this summer, with the young deep-lying playmaker in talks with the club to make the switch to the red side of Manchester. The report comes from Laurie Whitwell of The Athletic, who announced that United are interested and in talks to sign both Noubissie and Seth Ridgeon.

Noubissie, who has represented France at the youth level, is also eligible to play for Scotland, having been born in Livingston. Manchester City signed Noubissie from Leicester City in 2023, with the player’s father, Patrick Noubissie, who formerly played for Hibernian in the Scottish League, working as a youth physiotherapist at the club still to this day.

City paid £1m for Noubissie in the deal as a 14-year-old, which in hindsight was a crazy fee for such a young player at the time. The deal clearly shows how much the club rated Noubissie, but United are aiming to steal him away in the coming days.

There were reports at the time City signed the player too that United was among the clubs rivalling the Blues for his signing, which makes these new contacts all the more interesting.

Rodri and Trent fond of Tyrese Noubissie

Rodri previously sent Tyrese Noubissie a pair of boots with his name on them last season, and Trent Alexander-Arnold also sent the player a signed shirt with a pair of boots in the past while he was out injured. It seems the youngster is well known and highly regarded by those who are already of a high standing in the game.

Noubissie is a strong, elegant young defensive midfielder, with a deft left foot and a brilliant range of passing and vision. Noubissie and Ridgeon, who are both linked with United, are rated as two of the best young midfield talents in the country.

The midfielder won player of the tournament for City back in 2024 at the Naples Invitational Cup at the U15 level and is described as a press-resistant, ball-carrying playmaker. Two attributes that Ruben Amorim values more than anything in a midfielder, particularly in his midfield two.

Noubissie would be a major coup

Having captained both France and Leicester at youth level, it’s also clear Noubissie is already showcasing leadership qualities in his game on and off the pitch. United value attitude and preparation more than anything else with their talent at Carrington, and Noubissie, should the signing go through, is expected to fit right into that mantra straight away.

It’s a further sign of United’s ploy to spark a generation of wonderkids in their youth department across the board. The club has already signed Harley Emsden-James this summer, with that signing coming after the shockwave signing of Chido Obi last year and the impressive coup of Ayden Heaven from Arsenal.

With all the criticism INEOS are taking for their failure to move quickly in the senior transfer market, they cannot be accused of any tardiness in the youth department, moving at a rate that arguably hasn’t been rivalled before at that level.

Diego Leon is set to join up with the U21s after preseason, with Sekou Kone, another magnificent signing, continuing to hone his craft at Carrington. Noubissie comes into an environment striving to become the best in not just England but the entire planet when it comes to academy football.

While a deal isn’t done yet for either Ridgeon or Noubissie, it seems to be moving in that direction. Ridgeon is seen as just as big a signing, if not bigger, than the Manchester City man, with the Fulham midfielder captaining England’s U17s.

Some good news for once for Manchester United, even though the only exclusive story many fans will want to see is the news that a deal has been agreed for Bryan Mbeumo.
