When Manchester United will complete signing of 18yo wonderkid Sekou Kone
Manchester United reached an agreement to sign Sekou Kone, the 18-year-old wonderkid from Mali, earlier this month.
So far this summer, the Reds have secured the signings of Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui, and Joshua Zirkzee.
Manuel Ugarte is also expected to sign for the Old Trafford outfit, but they are also targeting some extremely interesting youth talent.
Sekou Kone, 18, will join the Reds from the Mali club Guidars FC after excelling at the Under-17s World Cup last year.
The defensive midfielder will eventually provide competition in Erik ten Hag’s first team but is initially set to play for the Under-21s.
Various reports have detailed that United are aware of the huge cultural change that Kone will experience by moving to England at just 18 years of age.
United secured the deal for around £1 million, plus potential performance-based add-ons. It represents a low-risk, high-reward deal that United hasn’t done enough of in recent years.
However, the 18-year-old has not yet officially signed for the club, but it has been reported that he will soon put pen to paper on a deal.
According to French journalist Loïc Tanzi, the young talent will officially sign terms with United on Thursday.
This could be just after they announce the signing of another midfielder, Manuel Ugarte, who arrived in Manchester on Tuesday night ahead of his move being completed.
16-year-old striker talent Chido Obi-Martin is another young star who will sign with United this summer, although his deal is being delayed due to standard Premier League checks.
