When Manchester United could complete Bryan Mbeumo deal as ‘significant progress’ finally made in negotiations

Reports have suggested that there has been ‘significant’ progress’ in Manchester United’s attempts to sign Bryan Mbeumo this summer.

Manchester United endured a dismal campaign last season and are now determined to make major changes this summer to turn things around.

Ruben Amorim’s side have already taken a step in that direction by signing Matheus Cunha on a five-year deal, aiming to strengthen their misfiring attack. Shortly after, United shifted focus to another key target.

On June 2, it emerged that Bryan Mbeumo would favour a move to Old Trafford over other interested clubs like Newcastle and Tottenham. Just two days later, United submitted their first offer for the Brentford forward.

Their bid—£45 million plus an additional £5 million in add-ons—was rejected, but reports quickly followed that a second offer was being prepared for the Cameroon international.

Yet, more than two weeks have passed with no sign of a follow-up bid, which has concerned supporters, especially since Tottenham, having just appointed Thomas Frank as manager, are rumoured to potentially try and hijack the deal.

When United could complete Mbeumo deal

Despite there not yet being a second bid for Mbeumo, it has been reported that United are taking their time and want this offer to be accepted, rather than being dragged into making bid after bid.

Now, according to a report from Fichajes, the negotiations between United and Brentford, which have now been going on for several weeks, have made significant progress.

It is claimed that ‘everything indicates’ that a deal could be struck in the coming days, with the Brentford board aware that keeping their star man is too complicated, especially after he communicated his desire to join United.

The report finalised that some players within the United dressing room are excited about Mbeumo’s potential arrival and that Amorim has given the green light for the deal.

It is important to note that English media have not picked up on similar information as things stand, but if this report is to be believed, those outlets may start providing important updates before the end of the week.

United need Mbeumo in before pre-season

The concerns about developments on the Mbeumo negotiations have been slightly over-the-top, partly because we all know that the player has given United priority.

That has provided the Reds with a powerful position in negotiations – something they won’t have too much this summer – and they are clearly trying to take advantage of that.

Of course, with a difficult start to the new Premier League season, United need their squad fully prepared and any key signings to get a full pre-season under Amorim.

But there is still two more weeks until the Reds return to Carrington and it seems like Mbeumo will be over the line by that point.
