When could Manchester United announce Mason Mount? The details so far

Manchester United have reportedly agreed on terms with Chelsea for the signing of Mason Mount this summer, but are yet to officially announce the completion of any deal.

Manchester United are said to have agreed a deal with Chelsea for the signature of Mason Mount for a fee of £55 million plus another £5m in performance-related add-ons.

Despite the fact that United usually announce when they have come to an official agreement with another club for the transfer of a player ‘subject to a medical and agreement of personal terms’, there has been no such announcement for Erik ten Hag‘s midfield target.

If there was to be an announcement of this ilk, it would be expected that it would happen before Monday.

The reason for this is, as per Matt Law of the Daily Telegraph, United have scheduled Mason Mount’s medical for Monday – which coincides with the first day of pre-season training for Erik ten Hag’s squad.

With the medical on Monday, it is likely that it will take place in the morning, with media for Mount’s official announcement and contract signing potentially taking place that afternoon.

As an agreement has already been reached, the United media team will have time over the weekend to prepare for the usual media side that comes with a new signing.

As previously reported, Ten Hag is keen to have Mount in his squad before the club embark on their pre-season tour, and so will want Mount in training as soon as possible, with the player returning from holiday this weekend.

Therefore, it is feasible that Mount could be training at United as early as Tuesday, with United potentially being able to announce the player as soon as Tuesday morning.

However, extra time is often needed for final checks in relation to the player’s contract (it is said that personal terms have already been agreed upon), the media announcement, and medical checks, it may be more likely that the club will announce his arrival on either Tuesday evening or Wednesday.
