Ole Gunnar Solskjær has already discussed Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford since his arrival as Besiktas manager last week.

Former Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjær has returned to management for the first time since his Old Trafford departure in 2021.

The Norwegian joined Turkish club Besiktas last week and described the fanbase as one of the main reasons behind his decision to come back into the hot-seat.

He couldn’t have got off to a better start, with his first game being a 4-1 demolition of Athletic Club in the Europa League. The Spanish side had not lost in the competition beforehand.

There is now a lot of work for Solskjær to do to improve their Super Lig position, with Besiktas currently sitting sixth in the table.

New signings could be required to help the 51-year-old and that has led to rumours about potential additions from United.

Besiktas interested in Rashford with Solskjær involved

Various players are linked with exits this month at Old Trafford, with the club trying to generate funds for new signings for Ruben Amorim.

Marcus Rashford is among the players the club are open to selling but a loan move is what they are currently considering due to his large wage packet.

Barcelona remain the 27-year-old’s favoured option but they need players to depart before they think about bringing him in on loan.

It remains to be seen what happens with Rashford’s future over the next two weeks but Besiktas may emerge as a potential option.

Fresh reports from Turkish journalist Gökmen Özcan state that Solskjær wants to sign Rashford at Besiktas this month and is personally involved in the attempts to bring his former player in.

What Solskjær said about Rashford amid transfer rumours

Rashford enjoyed some of his best career form under Solskjær at United, scoring 43 goals across the two full seasons under the ex-striker’s management.

The prospect of signing Rashford, as well as Casemiro, was brought up to the 51-year-old in one of his first press conferences at the Turkish club.

Solskjær was complimentary of the United pair but claimed that he had no contact with either of them over a potential deal this month.

“I’ve come from Manchester United, so there will be transfer news like this,” the Besiktas boss said, as per Sport Witness.

“Casemiro and Rashford are very good players, but I haven’t had any contact with them.

“I enjoyed my time at Manchester United. That chapter is closed. I’m looking forward to working at Besiktas now. The Bilbao game will be tough, but we are ready.”
