Manchester United have been in discussions with RB Leipzig over Benjamin Sesko this weekend and Fabrizio Romano has revealed what was said during those talks.
Manchester United have reportedly made RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko their primary target to strengthen the centre-forward position this summer.
With Matheus Cunha arriving from Wolves, Bryan Mbeumo signed from Brentford, and highly rated 18-year-old left-back Diego Leon joining from Cerro Porteño, the club is now focused on adding a natural No.9 to the squad.
Although Bruno Fernandes ended last season as United’s top scorer with 19 goals across all competitions, only three other players managed to hit double figures — highlighting the urgent need for a consistent goal threat up front.
Ruben Amorim has prioritised the addition of a central striker ahead of the new campaign, and Sesko has emerged as the leading candidate with less than a month remaining in the transfer window.
The 22-year-old Slovenian forward netted 21 goals in all competitions for RB Leipzig during the 2024/25 season and has long been on United’s radar.
What United told Leipzig about Sesko deal
Newcastle have already seen an offer of around £70 million rejected by Leipzig for the player and it is said that Sesko is still yet to make his final decision.
On Saturday evening, it was revealed by Sky Sports that United were in discussions with the German club on the night and those talks would determine whether the Reds decide to make a bid themselves.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has explained that United have told Leipzig that they will make a bid for Sesko should he decide he wants to join the club.
“We are entering decision time for Benjamin Sesko,” the Italian journalist explained in his latest YouTube video.
“Manchester United made clear to RB Leipzig on Saturday night that they will make a bid for Benjamin Sesko if the player will open the door to join them.”
Sesko’s decision coming soon
Despite some rumours coming up over the weekend that Sesko has chosen to join Newcastle, Romano shut down those suggestions and explained that the player is still yet to make a decision.
But that decision is expected to come soon and that is good for United, who cannot waste much more time in the transfer window.

Should the 22-year-old decide to join them, then they can work quickly on finding the best possible deal to bring him in.
If he wants to move to Newcastle, then the Reds will still have several weeks to find and work on an alternative option.
