A club director has released a statement on one of Manchester United’s unwanted stars which will be a boost for Ruben Amorim’s side.
Manchester United are aiming to have a successful summer transfer window to help Ruben Amorim build an improved squad.
In order to do that, the likes of Jason Wilcox and Christopher Vivell will need to secure signings who fit into the United head coach’s system.
However, it is also just as important that the club can sell some of their unwanted players in the window, not only to create extra funds but also ensure that Amorim doesn’t have players in his squad that don’t suit the way he wants to play.
There are several players who are set to leave on free contracts, while others are also likely to depart. Currently, all four of the senior players on loan are expected to leave the club.
Betis director makes Antony claim
Antony, Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Tyrell Malacia are all spending time away from Old Trafford on loans this season and it would be a surprise if any of them returned to the club.
The idea of the loan moves this term were to improve the valuation of these players and make sales next summer an easier prospect.
That has certainly been the case for Antony, who has been shining at Real Betis since his January arrival. He has four goals and as many assists in 13 appearances.
His form has led to the Spanish club’s sporting director, Manu Fajardo, coming out and claiming that he will “do everything possible” to keep the Brazilian at the club.
Fajardo also suggested that Betis will “try in different ways” to secure Antony’s service after the end of the season. This suggests they could look to try and do another loan move.
“It’s a source of personal satisfaction, but it’s the result of teamwork. I’m responsible for the sporting direction, but there are many people involved in this signing,” Fajardo told Mundo Deportivo.
“It’s still early, but we’ll try in different ways to do everything possible to continue enjoying Antony.”
United would welcome Antony bidding war
United are reportedly looking for around £40 million for Antony this summer following his impressive start to life in La Liga.
While that fee may be too much for Betis to pay upfront, their interest in keeping the Brazilian will only aid potential negotiations.
It would not be a surprise to see other clubs enter the race for Antony in the coming months as he has showcased his ability to be impactful outside of the Premier League.
United would certainly welcome any kind of bidding war for the 25-year-old and will hope they can receive a fee close to that £40 million figure.
It is a boost for the club to see Betis make their feelings clear about keeping the player beyond his loan spell, even if that particular deal doesn’t happen.
