Manchester United have been given a transfer update regarding a 22-year-old transfer target, who is being desired by the Reds’ big-six rivals.
Manchester United have experienced much success recently in the Premier League, with their new attacking signings often being the stars of the show.
Ruben Amorim’s first summer in charge of the Reds saw him spend around £200million for a brand-new front three of Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Šeško, and United’s top scorer Bryan Mbeumo.
With the Reds’ new-look trio scoring five in their last four games, they have had a massive part to play in their side’s four-match unbeaten streak, which has seen them climb to eighth in the table.
Despite their recent success, United may still look to invest further into their attacking department, with them now targeting one of La Liga’s hottest prospects.
United set sights on Eyong
According to reports from Mundo Deportivo, via Sport Witness, United are joined by Arsenal, Manchester City and Barcelona in their pursuit of Levante UD’s Etta Eyong.
The 22-year-old striker has a clause for £26million, which will rise to £35million. Levante CEO José Danvila has spoken about the interest in his prized asset.
Danvila said regarding the possibility of selling Eyong, “No. In fact, I’m already hearing some rumours about Etta Eyong. We receive offers for him every day. The player isn’t going to be sold. He won’t leave this winter. Mainly because our priority is to stay up.
“It doesn’t make sense to make an effort in the summer and then sell him in the winter. The club’s greatest asset is staying in the first division, even if a very large sum of money comes in.
“We’ll analyse the situation when the season ends. If we stay in the first division, there will be a re-evaluation of the squad. The club will continue to work with the current squad until May 17th, and if a good opportunity arises in the winter transfer window, we will consider it.”
Tough competition for Eyong
The Levante CEO carried on his detailed interview by explaining that his club are yet to receive any concrete approaches from both the Premier League and Barcelona.
“Barca haven’t contacted Levante about Etta Eyong, and we haven’t received any calls from the Premier League either. We did receive a firm offer for the player, but it has been rejected,” Danvila explained.

With six goals and three assists in his 11 league appearances so far this season, Eyong is building up quite the reputation, which is clearly attracting interest from many of Europe’s top sides.
Given Joshua Zirkzee’s wishes to depart the Reds, whether this be on loan or permanently, Eyong may be the perfect solution to United’s potential depth dilemma next summer.
