“We struggled…” – Ruben Amorim reveals crucial Bryan Mbeumo attribute that no other Man Utd player offers

Ruben Amorim has revealed a crucial attribute Bryan Mbeumo has that no other Manchester United players can offer right now.

Manchester United won their first game of the season against Burnley on the weekend and Bryan Mbeumo scored his second goal of the campaign.

Mbeumo, 26, joined the club in the summer and netted his first goal in the Carabao Cup defeat to Grimsby Town before scoring at Old Trafford for the first time in red.

His goal came immediately after Burnley’s equaliser, with the forward smartly moving to receive a cutback from Diogo Dalot on the left.

That simply topped off a strong performance from the ex-Brentford man though, with him being rated as the Man of the Match in the 3-2 clash.

Amorim reveals crucial Mbeumo attribute that no other United player has

Mbeumo has impressed United fans with his technical level. His first touch is incredible and so consistent. But he has also showcased his threat on the final line of the opposition.

Ruben Amorim has explained how Mbeumo’s ability to stretch the backline of the opponents is a crucial quality and something that United lacked last term.

“It was impressive, the way he stretched the team, the quality he has in the first touch,” Amorim told reporters after the game on the weekend.

“You can feel that we are a different team, because when we win the ball, we have one guy stretching the team. Last season we struggled a little bit with that.”

Mbeumo’s ability is crucial after United departures

Mbeumo’s ability to stretch opposition backlines is very important considering the exits at Old Trafford this summer.

Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho both have flaws in their game but were the only United players who could offer that threat in behind. They have now both left the club.

We are yet to see if Benjamin Šeško can offer that threat. It seems more likely that he will excel in the air and when the ball gets to his feet.

Matheus Cunha loves the ball at his feet and doesn’t make those runs in behind too often. Mbeumo’s ability to stretch the lines is crucial for Amorim.

But the fact that the Cameroon international is also excellent when dropping deeper and receiving the ball to feet is a big plus. He knows how to use his body to protect the ball. He simply looks like someone who is extremely comfortable in the way he plays.
