Marcus Rashford has acknowledged that Manchester United are not far behind title contenders Manchester City and Arsenal, but has urged that the squad take just one game at a time.

Marcus Rashford was once again the man of the moment as he scored twice during Manchester United‘s 3-0 victory over Leicester City at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

“It’s a nice feeling to be scoring goals and ultimately winning games,” Rashford told Sky Sports after the fixture.

Despite coming out as victors, United were the inferior side in the first half, with some heroics from David de Gea denying Leicester multiple early goals, much to Erik ten Hag‘s relief. After Rashford scored, the tie flipped on it’s head, with the forward realising that United were not at their best in the first half.

“I think first half we didn’t actually play that well,” he explained. “Second half we played a lot better, we found people in pockets.”

Rashford did, however, find a positive in this, saying: “It’s also a positive that we are not playing our best and we go into half time a goal up.”

One topic of conversation that has creeped up many times in the last month has been in relation to United’s title chances, with many saying that since United are only three points behind Man City, they are in the race, too.

“Obviously we are there, we are close,” admitted Rashford. “At the same time, both teams in front of us are really good teams and they are playing good football at the minute as well.

“We have to just focus on ourselves and do as well as we can to keep trying to pick up points,” he stressed.

This fixture has put United in great stead to continue their brilliant momentum at the moment, with a significant crunch match against Barcelona set to take place at Old Trafford on Thursday evening.

United and Barcelona faced in the first leg of their Europa League knockout tie last Thursday, with United travelling home from the Spanish capital after fighting out a 2-2 draw. Rashford has explained that the next two games are massive for the club.

“We have another big game coming up in midweek to go through to the next round of the Europa League and a massive game on the weekend for us.”
