Victor Osimhen’s future appears uncertain despite currently being on loan at Galatasaray, with Manchester United among the clubs with reported interest.

Manchester United would ideally be about to make several big money deals in the January transfer window to support new boss Ruben Amorim.

However, that is never really how mid-season transfer windows work, and especially not when your finances are as poor as United’s are right now.

Amorim confirmed that the Reds will need to sell-to-buy this month if they want any additions, but also hinted that they will be trying something to make much-needed signings.

Considering the Portuguese boss has admitted that he does not see Joshua Zirkzee as a striker, bringing in a no.9 must be one of the main priorities for those at Old Trafford.

There have been various players linked with the Reds, including Ipswich Town forward Liam Delap and Amorim’s former marksman Viktor Gyökeres.

Reports have also suggested that United have renewed interest in Napoli forward Victor Osimhen, who is currently on loan at Turkish side Galatasaray.

TeamTalk have reported that the Reds have made a fresh enquiry for Osimhen’s services but that any deal would be unlikely until the summer window.

It was added that Osimhen has made his position very clear, with the Nigerian forward fully focused on finishing his loan spell at Galatasaray, before thinking about his future once the current season is over.

Osimhen, who has previously been linked with the Reds, current has 12 goals and five assists in just 15 appearances for Galatasaray so far this season.

United need a proven forward for Amorim

Whether or not Zirkzee stays at United, it is clear that they need a more proven forward. Amorim does not see the Dutchman as a no.9 and his future is perhaps better suited to one of the no.10 positions should he remain at Old Trafford.

That leaves Rasmus Højlund as the only senior no.9 and he has failed to show that he can be the consistent starter for the time being.

A more experienced option is not only needed on the pitch, but also to help Højlund, who people often forget is still only 21 years old.

Despite the need for this profile, it seems like something Amorim will need to wait until the summer transfer window for.
