“I want…” Victor Osimhen responds to Manchester United transfer links after ‘wants to join’ claim

Victor Osimhen has responded to rumours linking him with a summer transfer move to Manchester United amid a claim he wants to join Rúben Amorim’s team.
Manchester United are set to prioritise attacking reinforcements this summer as Rúben Amorim’s side continue to struggle in front of goal.
United’s lack of firepower has been a persistent issue this season, with the team frequently failing to score more than once per match. Their inconsistent form at Old Trafford has only added to concerns.
Last month, the club loaned out several first-team forwards, including Antony to Real Betis, Marcus Rashford to Aston Villa, and Ethan Wheatley to Walsall for the remainder of the season.
Despite these departures, United did not bolster their attacking options in January. Their only signings were defensive reinforcements—left-back Patrick Dorgu from Lecce and centre-back Ayden Heaven from Arsenal—though Amorim has hinted that Dorgu could also be deployed in a more advanced role.
Osimhen responds to United transfer links
Earlier this week, it was claimed by reports in Turkey that Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray after a falling out with the Serie A side, wants to join Amorim’s side this summer.
In a new interview, The 26-year-old Nigerian international was asked for his opinion on the links with United, as well as to Paris St. Germain, Chelsea and Arsenal, to which he responded that he does not know what will happen this summer.
“To be honest I don’t know. You know the last few months, nobody ever thought I would come here, I never believed I would come to Galatasaray despite how big they are,” Osimhen said.
“I live for the moment. I don’t know what will happen in the summer, but I want everybody to understand that I really love this club.
“I love the fans, I love the President, I love everyone associated with the club. It’s really a big deal to be here and I’m really enjoying my time here.”
Osimhen is a perfect fit for United
The striker has one year left on his contract with Napoli once this season ends, and according to various reports, he has a £62 million release clause. However, with the player approaching his final 12 months, Napoli may be forced to accept a lower fee to make sure they don’t lose him for free in 2026.

United do not have a big budget for the summer window but may raise over £100 million in sales, which puts them in the running for Osimhen should they choose to invest in a high-value striker.
Amid the failings of Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Højlund in an attacking role, United need a striker with experience and a physical presence who can create his own chances as well as score those made by others–a trait that Osimhen has.
£62 million is a hefty amount to spend for a club that does not have significant funds, but out of all the strikers currently available on the market, he seems the best bet to get Amorim’s squad back to winning ways.
