Manchester United are reportely stepping up their interest in Victor Osimhen, with talks progressing over a potential deal involving a player swap option.
Manchester United are preparing for a transformative squad overhaul under new head coach Rúben Amorim this season.
INEOS also have placed the signing of a new centre-forward high on the club’s priority list heading into the summer window.
A number of names have already been floated internally, with United exploring both high-profile and under-the-radar options.
One standout name is Victor Osimhen, who has impressed during his loan spell at Galatasaray this season.
The Nigerian forward has rediscovered form in Turkey, showcasing his explosive pace, clinical finishing, and ability to dominate opposition defences.
His performances have not gone unnoticed by United, and the striker now appears to be firmly on the radar as Amorim looks to reshape the club’s attacking options.
United pushing for Osimhen deal with player swap option
Victor Osimhen is understood to have a £63 million release clause, though that figure only applies to clubs outside of Italy, adding another layer of complexity to negotiations. There have also been reports that Napoli would be willing to accept offers of around £55 million if a deal is agreed quickly
According to Tuttosport, Napoli’s new sporting director, Giovanni Manna, is currently in discussions with Man United over a deal that could still reach £60m, with Rasmus Højlund potentially included as part of the package.
Manna is no stranger to working with United, having overseen the successful deal that saw Scott McTominay move to Naples, as well as holding talks about Alejandro Garnacho back in January.
If Tuttosport’s information is accurate, there’s growing speculation that Garnacho, rather than Højlund, could end up being the player involved in negotiations, especially given his profile and United’s evolving squad structure under Amorim.
Osimhen has been in sensational form during his loan spell at Galatasaray, netting 28 goals in 32 appearances. After a turbulent period at Napoli, the 26-year-old finally appears to have found his rhythm again.
Striker search continues amid ongoing Osimhen talks
While Osimhen remains the top priority, Man United are keeping tabs on other striking options as part of their summer rebuild under Amorim.
One player drawing internal interest is Liam Delap, who has quietly impressed at Ipswich Town.
Despite the club’s relegation battle, Delap’s work rate, movement, and physical attributes have stood out — making him a potential long-term option.
The idea of signing both an experienced, ready-made striker like Osimhen and a younger profile such as Delap has been discussed, as United look to add variety and depth to their front line.
With negotiations ongoing on multiple fronts, it’s clear the striker position remains a key priority — and more developments are expected in the weeks ahead.
