“Very good players…” Ole Gunnar Solskjær addresses double Manchester United transfer rumour
Ole Gunnar Solskjær has responded to rumours that he could sign players from Manchester United at new club Besiktas this month.
Manchester United are keen to make player sales in the January transfer window to create space for new signings in Ruben Amorim’s squad.
That has led to various players at Old Trafford being put up for sale, including the likes of Marcus Rashford and Casemiro.
Earlier this week it was confirmed that Ole Gunnar Solskjær had taken the managerial role at Besiktas. It is his first time back in the hot-seat since departing United in 2021.
This has inevitably led to rumours around potential signings from his former club and it has been explained that Solskjaer wants to sign ex-Red Tom Lawrence from Rangers.
Solskjaer addresses double United transfer rumour
However, there have been further rumours surrounding current United players and Solskjaer was directly asked about the prospect of signing Rashford or Casemiro.
The Brazilian midfielder has previously been linked with a move to Turkey while Rashford enjoyed the best form of his career under the Norwegian manager.
Yet, while admitting that the pair are “very good players”, the 51-year-old has explained that he has had no contact with either player.
“I’ve come from Manchester United, so there will be transfer news like this,” the Besiktas boss said, as per Sport Witness.
“Casemiro and Rashford are very good players, but I haven’t had any contact with them.
“I enjoyed my time at Manchester United. That chapter is closed. I’m looking forward to working at Besiktas now. The Bilbao game will be tough, but we are ready.”
Rashford could stay at United
It appears like Rashford could end up staying at Old Trafford, with the difficulties around his wages proving a problem for a move.
Barcelona is his preferred destination but the Spanish side cannot make a deal without a potential sale, but Ansu Fati appears unlikely to leave.
Meanwhile, recent reports have explained that the United forward has been doing extra work behind the scenes and still wants to play for the club.
It has been explained that he has no issues with Amorim and is available for selection against Rangers on Thursday.
