“Very big potential…” – Manager provides exciting loan update for “intelligent” Manchester United star

Manchester United fans have been provided an exciting loan update from one manager, as he praises the Red Devils loanee.

Manchester United have a very exciting crop of young players at Old Trafford. In fact, the level of talent is so high that some of the club’s most talented youngsters have been loaned out for the 2025/26 season, so they can continue to play regular football.

Toby Collyer – who famously replaced Casemiro against Liverpool at half-time at the start of last season – will spend the campaign on loan at Championship side West Bromwich Albion. The former Brighton youngster has only started two matches so far, but registered an assist last time out against Preston North End.

Also on loan in the Championship are Harry Amass and Radek Vitek. Amass has been an ever-present for Sheffield Wednesday since his move, while Vitek is being hailed as one of the best goalkeepers in the division for his brilliant Bristol City performances.

Dan Gore is on loan at Rotherham United after a troubled spell on the treatment table, and Ethan Wheatley will spend the season at Northampton Town.

Several other United youngsters, including Sonny Aljofree, Elyh Harrison and Habeeb Ogunneye, are also on loan in the EFL, but there is one who United fans may be more excited about than the rest.

Pedersen shares exciting Amass update

Amass was one of the only signings Sheffield Wednesday made in the summer transfer window, due to their difficult financial situation and he has been brilliant since his debut, where he unfortunately scored an own goal just minutes in.

Speaking to the Sheffield Star, Henrik Pedersen (his manager) said: “He has a very, very big potential for sure. He also has a lot to learn, the young man.

“But he is in the process of learning to be a Championship player. We have to remember he has played some Premier League games but not so much. He has played a lot of Under-21s football.

“But he has never ever played three games at Championship level before with this intensity, and this is also what he has said himself: ‘Oh, it’s so tough’.”

Pedersen continued to say: “Everything is with high intensity, all the attacks. He can do nothing with 95 per cent because then it is not enough.

“But how he has improved and how he has learnt, it is fantastic. He is, right now, in the process to go, not from a kid, but from a young man to a man who can play Championship football. It is a tough development, but he keeps on going, and we will support him.”

Amass could compete for spot when he returns

Amass – who has been described as “intelligent” – made seven appearances for United’s senior side last season, providing competition for Patrick Dorgu at left-wing-back, and he could do the same when he returns next season.

Dorgu has often found himself on the bench this year, with Diogo Dalot sometimes switching to left-wing-back in place of the Dane.

If Dorgu hasn’t established himself as first choice by the end of the season, Amass may be able to compete for a starting place during pre-season, potentially finding himself with a chance to start the season in the XI.

However, Diego Leon will also be fighting for a starting spot. The young Paraguayan scored his first goal for the under-21s this weekend, with a brilliant 60-yard run.
