Manchester United loanee Hannibal Mejbri is set for his first start at Sevilla this weekend after a difficult time so far in Spain.

The 21-year-old has been described by ABC Sevilla as the “uncomfortable wild card” option for Sevilla manager Quique Sanchez Flores.

Hannibal started just once in the Premier League for United during the first half of the season, and so decided to move on loan in the January transfer window.

His time in Seville has been testing, with the Tunisian midfielder playing just 37 minutes across three appearances for the La Liga club. He has been an unused substitute three times.

Now, the aforementioned report has stated that Hannibal is in line to make his full debut for Sevilla against Real Sociedad – with several injuries at the Spanish club right now.

Sanchez Flores has addressed the difficulties that Hannibal has faced since he joined his squad and suggests that the young player is ‘capable’ of contributing.

“The boy is reaching another level of understanding and is capable of playing at any time,” he said ahead of their game this weekend.

“There has been a landing that I think has been more mental than footballing, which is going from being in Manchester United, in the Premier League, to being in Sevilla. The Spanish La Liga is very different.

“[He has joined] a team that is in a very difficult situation. At least in Manchester, it is always in the top five. Now, in Sevilla, we are among the last seven.”
