According to a new report from the Netherlands, Tyrell Malacia has reached an agreement to leave Manchester United in January.

Manchester United are aiming to offload several players during the January transfer window as they seek to improve cash flow ahead of a crucial summer.

Rúben Amorim’s side have begun 2025 on a stronger footing, securing a draw against Liverpool, overcoming Arsenal on penalties in the FA Cup, and dispatching Southampton 3-1, courtesy of a stunning 12-minute hat-trick from Amad.

Despite this upturn in form, their activity in the transfer market has been sluggish, even as the team urgently needs reinforcements at left-back, in midfield, and in attack.

Amorim has made it clear to the press that he is eager to retain as much of his current squad as possible. However, Manchester United are prepared to move on several players before the window closes, with the majority of exits likely to come in the form of loan deals.

Malacia reaches agreement to leave United

According to a new report from Voetbal International, United left-back Tyrell Malacia has now reached an agreement to leave the club on loan this month until the end of the campaign.

Malacia has not played too much of a role under Rúben Amorim since he recovered from a 17-month knee issue, with Diogo Dalot being preferred at left wing-back.

It is said that United informed Malacia on Friday evening that he may leave Old Trafford on an initial loan deal, and that clubs from almost all top European leagues have enquired.

Although a destination for Malacia has not been named, he has agreed with United that his best option in the short term is to leave and find game time elsewhere.

The source of the news is said to be coming from someone close to Malacia.

Leaving on loan is Malacia’s best option

United have a few players in a similar situation to Malacia’s – poor performances or limited playing time has seen their value drop, but United need to raise this in order to complete profitable sales.

A loan move for Malacia would allow the player to find regular minutes following his 17-month spell on the sidelines, allowing himself time to showcase his abilities.

It would also give the player a chance to raise his value as an asset, meaning should United choose to sell, they would be able to demand a higher fee. Alternatively, he could prove himself useful to Amorim for the seasons to follow.

Marcus Rashford and Antony are also expected to leave on loan in the coming weeks, although while Real Betis have put in a second offer for the latter, Rashford’s future may not be solved until deadline day.
