Ruben Amorim has provided a hint about his Manchester United XI to face Sunderland in the Premier League this weekend.
Manchester United will host Sunderland at Old Trafford before the October international break, their first clash since April 2017.
Ruben Amorim has endured a difficult start to the campaign, with United winning just two of their opening six league games and sitting 14th in the table, only a spot above last season’s 15th-place finish.
Sunderland, meanwhile, have impressed on their top-flight return, with Régis Le Bris guiding them to fifth place after collecting 11 points from six matches.
A 3-1 loss at Brentford has further increased the pressure on Amorim, who is under growing scrutiny as he looks to turn United’s fortunes around.
Amorim provides XI hint for United vs Sunderland
Ahead of this clash, it has been confirmed that both Casemiro and Amad will be available for selection after missing the defeat to Brentford.
Amad missed the trip south last weekend, following a family bereavement, while Casemiro served a one-match suspension following his red card against Chelsea.
The United boss has claimed that both players are ‘very important’ to the team ahead of the game, which suggests that they could come back into the lineup.
“They are really important,” Amorim told MUTV. “Casemiro gives us a lot of experience. That is good.
“Amad, we missed Amad in the last game. When we want to push some opponents, he is one extra guy where he is very good in one against one. So we are really happy to have him.”
Amorim has midfield dilemma
Casemiro coming back into the midfield feels like a no-brainer for Amorim as Manuel Ugarte has failed to impress in any games this season.
But there are question marks over the midfield duo of Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes, with some fans wanting the club captain played further forward.
Kobbie Mainoo could then come into the team alongside the Brazilian in a midfield duo that provides slightly more balance while allowing Fernandes to thrive in his preferred position.
If that was to happen, it would likely mean that Benjamin Šeško would need to come out of the side which feels unlikely after he scored his first goal for the club last time out.
