Two Manchester United wonderkids have been spotted in first-team training ahead of their clash with Brentford tomorrow. Ruben Amorim has been told one of these stars is ‘underrated’.
Manchester United are preparing for their sixth Premier League clash of the new season this weekend, as they travel to London to face Brentford.
Ruben Amorim’s side head into the clash in 11th in the league, as they seek back-to-back top-flight victories for the first time during the Portuguese coach’s tenure.
In his press conference, Amorim has stated which players will be absent from tomorrow’s tie against Bryan Mbeumo’s former club, as well as giving updates on certain injuries within the squad.
Amid the influx of absentees within United’s ranks, two of the Reds’ wonderkids have taken part in first-team training. One of these has been hailed as ‘underrated’.
Two youngsters in first-team training
Both Jayden Ngwashi, 17, and Tyler Fletcher, 18, took part in United’s first-team training session today, ahead of their clash at the Gtech Community Stadium tomorrow afternoon as per the United website.
The Academy pair have been excelling in the youth ranks this term. Ngwashi is a talented centre-back while Fletcher, son of United icon Darren Fletcher, plays in the heart of midfield.
United will be without the likes of Amad, Casemiro, and Noussair Mazraoui for the weekend’s match for a variety of reasons, which may explain the introduction of two academy stars.
Amad is missing out on the fixture due to a family bereavement, whilst Casemiro is suspended, and Mazraoui has picked up a knock.
Amorim stated that “We have all the other players so we are in a good moment to go to Brentford.”
Underrated star given his chance
Given the introductions of Ngwashi and Fletcher to United’s first-team training, Under-21s coach Travis Binnion will feel heard given how vocal he has been about the two impressive teenagers.
When talking about Fletcher, Binnion told Manchester Evening News, via UtdDistrict, that “He’s been outstanding,” having worked his way into the Under-21s.
Binnion continued, saying, “The fact is he gets into the best of the U21s on merit, like 100 per cent. He affects the game with the ball, the game without the ball and the game in the top third of the pitch.”

“He’s looking strong, fit and there’s loads more to come from him, he’s not done by a long stretch. So yeah, underrated? Maybe because he hasn’t been with the first-team, and maybe because there are players who are a bit more eye-catching in the forward positions who maybe have numbers to support,” he continued.
“But he’s not underrated by the staff, the club and the players. He’s excellent and like his brother [Jack], he’s got loads more to come, loads more physically to come.”
