One of Manchester United’s brightest prospects could be set for a year-long loan move away from Old Trafford as they look to increase playing time.

Facundo Pellistri has been highly rated at Manchester United since his move to the club in 2020, playing primarily at the u21 level while at the club and gaining valuable senior minutes in the 22/23 season under Erik ten Hag to add to the minutes he gained on loan at Deportivo Alavés.

According to Fabian Bertolini, the Uruguayan winger is wanted by both Real Betis and FC Twente, with both clubs wanting to land the 21-year-old on loan, with the club considering extending his current contract, which expires in 2025, before he leaves on loan.

The winger made 11 appearances for the senior team throughout the season just passed, with the bulk of these coming as cameos in the Premier League. In each of these appearances, Pellistri demonstrated the raw ability and potential that has United fans excited to see him develop at the club.

Betis finished 6th in La Liga last season, meaning Pellistri would likely play at a higher level most weeks compared with a move to FC Twente, who themselves finished 5th in the Dutch Eredivisie.

Either move would give the prospect the opportunity to play regularly at the senior level, something that will be crucial for his development moving forward.

A temporary move away from Old Trafford makes even more sense when the current pecking order within the squad is considered. Pellistri would be competing with Antony, Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo for minutes, with the Urguyan least likely to feature consistently amongst this group.

Regardless of where Pellistri ends up playing next season, it will be of great interest to the United fans who hold high hopes for the star.
