Transfer Latest: Manchester United make approach for £35 million Casemiro replacement
Manchester United have made an approach for Fluminense midfielder Andre amid suggestions that Casemiro could leave Old Trafford in the summer.
Andre, 22, has excelled for double-winning Fluminense and made 53 appearances for the Brazilian side over the last 10 months.
The holding midfielder is highly rated and has several clubs looking at his situation, including United.
There were reportedly scouts from various Premier League clubs in attendance for the Copa Libertadores final against Argentine rivals Boca Juniors last week.
Despite there being a level of uncertainty at Old Trafford currently, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe set to take over sporting decisions, footballtransfers have reported that Old Trafford executives have made their interest known to Fluminense over a possible move.
It was added that there are suggestions that Casemiro, who is currently injured, could be open to a switch to the Saudi Pro League, which could pave the way for signing his fellow countryman.
Within the Premier League, Fulham are one club that have made their interest in Andre known. Although no proposal has been made yet for the midfielder. The Brazilian club are now aiming to receive around £26-35 million for their talented midfielder after a great season.
The aforementioned report added that more names could come into the fold ahead of the January transfer window and that game-time promises will be ‘hugely important’ for Andre as he looks to decide his next club.
United require a deep-lying midfielder and the Brazilian fits the profile and age range of players that the club should be looking at.
Paul Mitchell is the favourite to become the club’s new sporting director under Sir Jim Ratcliffe, according to Fabrizio Romano, and the 42-year-old could end up making the final decision on a potential chase for Andre.
