Tottenham legend sends warning to Rúben Amorim about two underrated players that could cost Manchester United the Europa League

A Tottenahm Hotspur legend has sent a warning to Rúben Amorim ahead of the Europa League Final, about two underrated players that could cost Manchester United the final on Wednesday.

Manchester United could somewhat save their season on Wednesday night, as they take on Tottenham Hotspur in Bilbao in what is a make-or-break for both clubs.

Rúben Amorim and Ange Postecoglou could be facing pressure heading into next season, with both clubs having the worst season in their Premier League history, despite having very capable squads.

The Europa League represents the possibility of playing in the Champions League and a serious financial reward that could help either club push on next season.

Qualifying for the Champions League will not only help the club sign better players, but it will also help them keep their better players, who will want to fight for major trophies sooner rather than later.

Bruno Fernandes and Son Heung-min captain their respective clubs, but both could look for a move away from their team if they don’t win the Europa League.

King praises underrated Tottenham duo

There has been much talk about the danger Tottenham’s front line could cause, but speaking ahead of the Europa League Final, Tottenham Hotspur legend Ledley King chose to highlight two underrated defenders who could cause United issues on Wednesday evening.

“When you know you can beat an opponent, it is a big advantage. I remember the first time we beat Arsenal and Chelsea… it removes the fear factor.

“It’s always in the back of your mind when you have lost to that team. The first goal will be massive, especially if Spurs get it. It will be interesting to see how Manchester United respond to the pressure.”

Continuing, he said: “He [Micky van de Ven] is such a valuable player and still so young, too. Having him back in the side brings confidence to other players and, hopefully, he is at that stage now after his injuries where he can trust his body to play at full throttle again.

“His pace is astonishing and is a huge advantage, but his ability on the ball is so impressive as well. In him and [Cristian] Romero, we have two defenders comfortable on the ball, something that’s so important these days.

“Romero can pick the pass between the lines ,and Van de Ven can stride out with the ball. It’s so impressive – his piece of play in the 3-0 win at United was one of the best bits of football I’ve seen all season.”

King believes Spurs are “good enough” to win

When questioned about United’s chances in the final, King said: “Manchester United have been inconsistent, similar to Spurs really. It’s been disappointing domestically but good in Europe. United have good players on their day, and Amorim will be desperate to end his first season there with a trophy.”

However, King seems to favour the club he spent 13 years and his entire career playing for in Wednesday’s Europa League final.

“I think we have played well against good teams, in basic terms. Away games are so important in European competition, so to be so solid on the road has been a huge advantage.”

“It has been quite a few years since we lifted a trophy, so to do that here would reinforce the belief moving forward in the group that they are good enough to win major trophies.”

Ledley King was speaking to BetMGM.
