Tom Heaton has delivered big praise for two Manchester United stars after the 3-2 pre-season win against Real Betis.

The Reds were impressive in their clash against La Liga opposition in San Diego after scoring three first-half goals to win the game.

It was a more experienced team that Erik ten Hag initially fielded but young star Harry Amass was once again included in the starting team after a positive display against Arsenal.

The 17-year-old left-back was extremely sharp on the ball and delivered a beautiful cross to assist Amad Diallo for United’s second of the night.

Despite being so young, the left-back problems at Old Trafford could present Amass with an opportunity in the first-team when the Premier League season starts.

“I don’t see why not,” replied Tom Heaton when asked by reporters if he believes the teenager is ready to start the season if needed.

“I know this club is built on that sort of understanding that young lads (can come in) if they make the grade.

“Kobbie (Mainoo) is a prime example from last season. He’s had a great start to pre-season; he’s a great lad.

“He’s got a fantastic left foot, and he’s working hard at the moment. He’s playing well.”

Amass was not the only player to impress against Betis, with Amad having a hand in all three goals scored by Ten Hag’s side.

His brilliant run won the penalty, which Marcus Rashford dispatched. He scored the second with a brilliant finish, and he played in the corner, which led to Casemiro’s goal.

After spending much of last season on the sidelines, many fans believe that this will be the season where Amad proves himself as a first-team regular.

“I think, in fairness to Amad, since I’ve been back at the club with him his ability has been incredible,” explained Heaton.

“But now he’s getting a little bit more confidence, a little bit more belief, a little bit more gametime. You can start to see it all coming together.

“I think he was dynamite tonight to be fair.”
