There are several Manchester United starlets who could get the chance to shine in the club’s first pre-season friendly of the summer against Leeds this weekend.
Manchester United are set to kick off their pre-season campaign with a clash against Leeds in Stockholm, Sweden.
Following a disappointing 15th-place finish in the Premier League last season, the club has lined up a challenging pre-season schedule, including matches against four Premier League opponents and a home game at Old Trafford against Fiorentina, all in preparation for the 2025/26 season.
After facing Leeds, United will travel to the United States to take on West Ham, Bournemouth, and Everton as part of the Premier League Summer Series.
Supporters will be particularly eager to watch the Leeds match, as it could mark the debut of new signings Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon.
There are also going to be chances for several youth talents to appear, and UtdDistrict have noted three exciting talents who could play against Leeds.
Shea Lacey
Shea Lacey reminded a lot of people about his talents during two short cameos on the post-season tour of Asia and he has been training with Amorim’s squad since the beginning of pre-season.
The 18-year-old attacker has not played much football over the last year due to injuries but he has been fully fit for several months now and has been impressing in training.
It was explained that Bruno Fernandes was helping Lacey during the opening sessions of pre-season and he could be playing alongside him on the pitch this weekend.
Lacey is a perfect fit for the right-sided no.10 role in Amorim’s system, with his quick feet in tight spaces being a key attribute to succeed in that position.
Radek Vitek
Following the news that André Onana would miss the entire pre-season with a hamstring injury, it is expected that Radek Vitek gets a chance between the sticks.
Vitek enjoyed a successful loan spell last season playing for Austrian Bundesliga club FC Blau-Weiß Linz and is now eyeing the chance to impress Amorim.
The goalkeeper impressed last summer in pre-season as well but he could now try and prove himself to be good enough to challenge Onana in net.
Chido Obi
Chido Obi will be hoping to carry his positive momentum from last season and continue to make a positive impact in the first-team.
The striker scored his first two goals for Amorim’s side during the post-season tour and he’s been working hard behind the scenes over the summer.

He is expected to play a part in the game against Leeds and then head out on the pre-season tour as well.
