Three Manchester United starlets to watch out for vs Rosenborg
Manchester United face Rosenborg in their first pre-season friendly on Monday evening as Erik ten Hag’s side prepare for the 2024/25 campaign.
The Reds travel to Norway a week after they returned to Carrington for training.
It will be a very youthful side due to international tournament participation this summer. There are also several Reds who remain at the club on individual training programmes.
That provides a great opportunity for some young stars to impress Ten Hag and his coaching staff, which includes new additions in Ruud van Nistelrooy and Rene Hake.
UtdDistrict have detailed three academy talents that you should keep an eye on in Monday’s fixture.
Harry Amass
Harry Amass is a hugely talented left-back and even made the first-team bench seven times last season.
Whilst he did not make his debut, the defender has the perfect opportunity to impress while Luke Shaw is away with England and Tyrell Malacia is out injured.
There is a serious chance that Amass follows in Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo’s footsteps and makes a charge for first-team football next term.
He is extremely comfortable in possession and is a threat going forward. The defensive side of his game also dramatically improved across the last campaign.
Ethan Wheatley
Ethan Wheatley made history against Sheffield United last season when he became the 250th academy graduate of the club.
The 18-year-old striker scored in both finals for the Under-18s last season and displayed his ability to score a variety of goals.
Without Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee travelling for the game, Wheatley has another chance to impress Ten Hag through the middle.
Elyh Harrison
It was surprising to read that André Onana would not travel with the squad for this game but that provides a great chance for Elyh Harrison to finally impress.
The young goalkeeper was present on the pre-season tour last summer but did not make an appearance on the pitch. It is likely we see him tomorrow in some capacity.
He won the Under-21s Player of the Year last term and is highly rated within the academy. His passing range is a unique tool that Adam Lawrence’s team utilised throughout the campaign.
