Ruben Amorim is expected to become the new Manchester United manager after Erik ten Hag was sacked earlier this week.

Manchester United announced Monday morning that Erik ten Hag has been relieved of his duties following the team’s 2-1 defeat to West Ham over the weekend.

Currently, United sit 14th place in the Premier League and 21st in the Europa League following a dismal start to the season.

Ruud van Nistelrooy will serve as interim manager as the club searches for a permanent replacement but reports suggest that Ruben Amorim has already been identified as Ten Hag’s successor.

The Portuguese manager is keen on the move and things could develop in the coming days for him to be in charge in the coming weeks.

The 39-year-old coach is expected to change things at Old Trafford, with his three-at-the-back formation being the clearest adjustment.

He is also someone who will trust the youth and there are three players who could end up making their debuts under Amorim this season.

Harry Amass

Harry Amass looked set to make his debut for United soon anyway after a strong pre-season but that could come even quicker in Amorim’s setup.

The 17-year-old fullback could come into that wingback spot in Amorim’s team and it would help hide his weaknesses while maximising his strengths.

Not only could Amass make his debut this year, but if the senior left-backs do not recover well, he could be involved more than expected.

Sekou Kone

This is a little bit of a cheat considering Sekou Kone was signed in the summer with a view of becoming a first-team player but he is still set to start in the academy.

The midfield is always crucial in a three-at-the-back system and his athleticism mixed with the ability on the ball will be attractive to Amorim, who will need to find his best midfield pairing quickly.

Louis Jackson

Finally, it could be likely that we see a centre-back emerge into the first-team and make their debut and Louis Jackson is the closest to doing so at Old Trafford.

The 2022 FA Youth Cup winner made the bench for the first-team four times last season and may be able to push his way forward for a debut considering United will be utilising an extra centre-back in their games.

This is more likely for the domestic cup competitions, with the depth at centre-back being solid when everyone is fully fit.
