Ruben Amorim will address the media for the first time this week ahead of his opening Manchester United game against Ipswich Town.

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim started his work at Carrington this week ahead of his first Premier League fixture on Sunday.

Newly promoted Ipswich Town will be hosting the Reds for the beginning of a very busy winter period for Amorim’s men.

Many people are excited to see what the 39-year-old’s tactics on the pitch can bring, but there is also anticipation surrounding his opening press conference.

Amorim’s first interview with club media was conducted excellently and he is well-known for being a great communicator to his players and the press.

In fact, there was even an account on social media which kept track of when Amorim’s next interview or press conference was during his time in Sporting.

With that in mind, ahead of his first press conference on Friday afternoon, UtdDistrict looks at three major talking points Amorim will likely be set to discuss.

Injury latest

Like in any press conference, Amorim will be asked for the latest injury updates on several United stars.

There has been some significant movement this week, however, with reports claiming that Leny Yoro is fit to start for the Reds on Sunday.

He will also be asked whether Kobbie Mainoo, Luke Shaw, Victor Lindelöf and Lisandro Martínez will be fit for the encounter.

Wingback approach

With a change in formation coming to Old Trafford, the biggest question marks surround the wingback position and who will play there.

Amorim has previously used fullbacks and wingers in the role at Sporting, but United have limited options who would seem suitable to the demands of the position.

While Amorim will probably not reveal who he is planning to start at wingback against Ipswich, he could provide some further details on what he expects from the players in that position.

Rashford no.9 role?

Marcus Rashford lined up as the striker in United’s first training session under Amorim on Monday following reports that stated the new head coach was planning to use him up front.

The English forward has never been shy in admitting that he favours playing off the left side but Amorim may feel that his attributes would be better suited upfront than behind the striker in the two no.10 positions.

He will undoubtably be asked about his plans for the 27-year-old forward and it will be fascinating to hear what he has to say about a player who has had so many ups and downs during his United career so far.
