Third Premier League club join Chelsea and Aston Villa in Alejandro Garnacho race as Manchester United transfer impact clear

A third Premier League club have joined the race to sign Alejandro Garnacho this summer as the impact of his sale on Manchester United becomes clear.

Rúben Amorim has identified several players who no longer fit into his plans as he oversees a major rebuild at Manchester United, with one player in particular already attracting strong interest from some of Europe’s top clubs.

While planning for next season is well underway, Amorim is balancing both arrivals and departures within his squad. The signing of Matheus Cunha has been completed, and discussions over a move for Bryan Mbeumo are ongoing, with the club hopeful of finalising a deal in the coming days.

At the same time, outgoings are a key part of the process, with the club actively working to offload several big-name players.

Marcus Rashford, Antony, Jadon Sancho, and Tyrell Malacia are all expected to leave the club. At the same time, Alejandro Garnacho has also been informed by the head coach that he is free to seek a move elsewhere.

Three Premier League clubs in race for Garnacho

Last week, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claimed that, with Garnacho sure to leave Old Trafford this summer, three Premier League clubs had already inquired about his situation, alongside several in Italy as well as Bayer Leverkusen.

Chelsea have been well documented in their interest in Garnacho, while other reports this month have claimed that Aston Villa are keeping tabs on the player’s situation.

However, a fresh report from Argentina transfer specialist Gastón Edul has revealed that the third club eyeing the 20-year-old winger is Arsenal.

“There are two Premier League teams that showed interest in him,” the journalist explained on a recent live-stream. When asked who these two clubs are, Edul replied: “Chelsea and Arsenal.”

The impact of Garnacho’s sale on United is clear

While United will be hoping that they can secure Mbeumo alongside Cunha despite growing interest in the former from Tottenham, they are also keen to make further signings before pre-season commences next month.

United need sales to do so, and if they were to offload Garnacho for the reportedly desired £60 million fee, this would free the club up to sign a new striker and midfielder.

While their favoured option in midfield is currently unclear, two significant targets could be secured for around £60 million in Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyökeres, both of whom are on the market.

According to Romano, United held fresh talks with Gyökeres to understand how his situation is developing. United are being kept informed on every step of the striker’s story, as they’re aware of Italian clubs exploring the situation as well.

Concerning Osimhen, the Nigerian international has turned down a move to Saudi Arabia this summer, choosing to stay in Europe. United may well reenter the market for him if he lowers his wage demands.

Either way, if Garnacho were to be sold within the next few weeks, this would allow United to bring in a number of other signings prior to pre-season.
