Star winger Amad has reacted to the pending transfers of Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford, with the duo departing Manchester United.
Marcus Rashford will complete a move to Barcelona this week, while Manchester United remain attentive to any potential clubs interested in Alejandro Garnacho. Aston Villa and Chelsea are reportedly the two most likely candidates, although there have been tentative links to Tottenham as well.
United need to offload players to try and create funds for any further transfers. Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha are already over the line, with the club expected to announce the former’s move on Monday.
However, the club want and need more signings, especially if they want to give Ruben Amorim the best chance of success.
Amorim cannot afford a slow start, and United potentially need a striker, a midfielder, and a goalkeeper in the remaining months of the window to ensure they enter match week one completely prepared.
Failure to do so could result in Amorim’s departure. Amad has been speaking about what the departure of Rashford and the potential sale of Garnacho feel like for him personally.
Amad reacts to Garnacho and Rashford transfers
Amad has recently expressed his feelings regarding the departures of his teammates, Garnacho and Rashford. The Ivorian wished Rashford luck but made clear to reporters his only focus is on the team in the coming weeks and the players still at the club.
“Well, the only thing I can say is good luck to him, but I’m more focused on United and my team.”
The topic was then switched to Garnacho, who is represented by the same agency as Amad, Leaders, which Carlos Cambeiro and Quique De Lucas run.
“I think this is not really my problem. The only thing I’m thinking about right now is how we will learn together as a team, and yeah, that’s the only thing I’m trying to think about right now.”
The answers were fair from Amad, as the focus within the club after finishing 15th will not be on the players who will not be there next season. Ruben Amorim will have made this clear at the end of last season and will do the same at the beginning of this one.
Amad can be key this season
The combination of Amad and Mbeumo down the right-hand side next season for United will be exciting, and Amad can be even more of a key for Amorim than he was last season. Much has been made about his position, but regardless of where he plays, United will be a better side for it.
There is expected to be some games where Matheus Cunha could play up top, which may see Mbeumo or even Amad play in the left number ten role. It’s expected to be a fluid system nonetheless for United, and even at wing-back, Amad has proved he can provide goals and assists.
Amorim is unlikely to tweak his system, with some suggesting a 4-3-3 is a better route to success, but with a full pre-season under their belts, the team as a collective will be much more capable of carrying out the roles required.
Anything is an improvement on last season, and Amad can be a key man in ensuring United take a step closer to success once again.
