The Glazers’ actions hint at their preferred Man United bidder after Sheikh Jassim’s latest offer
The Glazers have owned Manchester United since 2005 and have cared about one thing since then: money.
An opportunity to take over the largest English football club with a highly leveraged deal that loaded debt onto the club has now turned into the chance to sell for more than £5 billion.
Both Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim have left their final offers on the table for the club and takeover expert Mike Keegan has said that they should hear the long-awaited result of who has won the battle in the coming days.

Ratcliffe, 70, had been in a stronger position because his bid – despite being for around 60% of United– valued the club higher than the Qatari bid.
However, with the offers now looking closer in terms of total valuation after the latest bid, there is little to separate them other than whether the Glazers want to cash everything now and wipe their hands clean, or stay in some capacity for a number of years before leaving in entirety.
Now, when you look at the history of what the Glazers care about, you’d argue that they would rather get as much money as possible – as soon as possible.
The prior lure of potentially earning more in the long term by staying at the club with Ratcliffe in charge is unlikely to be as tempting now that Sheikh Jassim has provided his latest offer.
Everything points towards the Glazers accepting the Qatari bid for the club and getting their money – guaranteed – right now, whilst the share price is still high.
Whatever happens, every Manchester United fan can agree that they just want it to end. The saga has been going on since November last year, with the Glazers attempting to squeeze every penny out of the club that they should’ve never been able to purchase in the first place, and with the transfer window approaching, it needs to come to a conclusion very soon so that Erik ten Hag can bolster his team.
