“The expectation…” – Fabrizio Romano delivers fresh transfer updates on two Manchester United summer targets

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has delivered updates on two potential Manchester United signings in the summer transfer window.

Manchester United will be aiming to strengthen Ruben Amorim’s squad at Old Trafford when the summer transfer window open.

The Portuguese boss has experienced issues since arriving at the club and it is clear that a stronger squad is needed.

Reports have already suggested that those in charge have identified several priority positions to focus on in the upcoming transfer window.

That includes a new striker, with goalscoring being a huge issue for Amorim’s squad this season as the likes of Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee struggle to find the back of the net.

Romano explains Delap “expectation” amid United interest

One of the striker being linked with a move to Old Trafford is Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap, who has scored 10 Premier League goals this season.

It has been claimed that United are having internal discussions about potentially signing the England youth international in the summer.

Delap has a £40 million release clause and Fabrizio Romano has detailed that he’s on United’s shortlist, but also states that Chelsea are keen on the player.

The Italian journalist added that “the expectation” is that Delap will leave Ipswich in the summer, with the Tractor Boys set to be relegated back to the Championship.

“There are several clubs attentive to the situation, from Chelsea as they were already keen in January to Manchester United who’ve add 4/5 names to the striker list and will also decide based on budget availability. The expectation is for a summer move, for sure,” Romano told GiveMeSport.

Romano delivers Osimhen to United update

Some United fans would argue that United need a more experienced option to lead the line at Old Trafford. After all, Højlund’s struggles show how a young striker can be impacted by difficulties.

Victor Osimhen is one player who offers a good blend of experience and talent. Still only 26 years of age, the Nigerian international is viewed as one of the best strikers in the world.

He is currently on loan at Galatasaray but Osimhen is likely to depart Napoli permanently in the summer window and United have been credited with interest by various reports.

Romano has previously confirmed that Osimhen would be interested in a move to United, but has stated this week that there are “zero concrete talks” surrounding a deal.

United still do not know their final budget for the summer, which would be boosted by Champions League qualification, and the reporter added that Osimhen’s salary would be high.

“He’s one of the names but again, zero concrete now in terms of contacts or talks,” continued Romano.

“It’s still early for Man United to know how much they can spend on the striker, and Osimhen would be quite expensive also in terms of salary.”
