“The club is…” – Marcus Rashford breaks silence on Manchester United difficulties after Barcelona move

Marcus Rashford has broken his silence on the difficulties at Manchester United following the announcement of his loan deal to Barcelona.

After falling out of favour at Manchester United under Ruben Amorim, Marcus Rashford has finally completed a loan move to Barcelona.

The 27-year-old winger had struggled to find consistency over the past couple of seasons at Old Trafford, which led to a temporary switch to Aston Villa. His loan spell at Villa Park helped him recapture some of his spark, but the Midlands club opted not to make the move permanent.

With his path at United firmly blocked, Rashford began looking for a fresh start. He made it clear that Barcelona was his preferred destination, and after weeks of negotiations, the two clubs reached an agreement.

Rashford now joins the Catalan giants on loan, in a deal that includes a reported £30 million option to buy at the end of the season. He will wear the number 14 shirt at Barça as he looks to reignite his career in La Liga.

Rashford breaks silence on United difficulties after Barcelona move

During his opening press conference as a Barcelona player, Rashford was asked about United and the reasons behind his difficulties at Old Trafford in recent years.

The 27-year-old refused to criticise the club but did claim that the club have been in transition ‘for a while’ now and that he’s fully focused on his next chapter at the Camp Nou.

“The situation with United is that the club is in a period of change and they have been for a while. I don’t have anything bad to say about Manchester United,” responded Rashford.

“I think it’s been an important part of not only my career but my life. I’m grateful for the opportunity to play for them but football is the same as life and not everything goes as simple as you may have thought.

“This is my next step, my next chapter. I’m fully focused on this and trying to improve myself and help the team win trophies. That’s where I’m focused right now.

“I don’t have anything to say about Manchester United, I just wish them all the best. I hope they are successful in the future. I’m focused on here and like I said before, I’m ready to play, I’m ready to experience this club.”

Rashford move right for all parties

It is easy to forget how long Rashford had been in the first-team at United for. Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solskjær, Ralf Rangnick, Erik ten Hag and Amorim.

Throughout that entire period there has rarely been a settled environment and that has been shown by the lack of success in that time.

For both Rashford and United, it seemed like the right time for him to move on but it is a shame how the situation unfolded in recent months.

But as Rashford mentioned, he will not speak negatively about the club and is hoping to see them succeed in the future.
