“The best place…” Harry Kane reacts to Premier League interest as Manchester United plot possible £57m transfer

Harry Kane has reacted to reported interest from Premier League clubs as Manchester United plot a possible £57 million January transfer.

Manchester United have scored in all but two matches this season, yet their returns in front of goal have still fallen below expectations.

Rúben Amorim’s men have registered more shots (81) and a higher expected goals tally (10.13 xG) than any other Premier League side, but they sit only joint-sixth in the goal charts with six strikes, the same as seven other clubs.

The summer saw United overhaul their attack with over £180 million spent on Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Šeško, though so far only the ex-Brentford man has managed to get on the scoresheet.

The trio have not yet started a league fixture together, and while many are eager to see them line up from the off against Brentford, Amorim’s side must sharpen their finishing to turn dominance into goals.

Kane insists he’s happy in Germany

When Harry Kane took the chance to sign for Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in an £80 million transfer from Tottenham Hotspur, many were shocked.

After scoring 100 goals for the club in just 104 appearances, it is now being reported that Kane is keen on returning to the Premier League and trying to break the league’s goalscoring record, with Amorim’s United claimed to be interested.

Currently, Kane sits second on the all-time Premier League goalscoring list, with 213. The only man ahead of him is Alan Shearer, 47 goals ahead on 260.

However, despite the rumours linking him with a possible return to England, the striker confirmed that he remains happy at Bayern and is not making plans to return to the Premier League just yet.

“No, I’m not thinking about a Premier League return at the moment. I’m really happy here,” Kane told German media following a 4-0 win over SV Werder Bremen on Friday evening.

“I have two years left on my contract. I’m enjoying every moment. Bayern is the best place to win trophies, absolutely.”

Kane would be Amorim’s perfect signing

Multiple reports have confirmed that Kane has a release clause of around £57 million that becomes active in the January transfer window, hence the flurry of reported interest in the forward.

In the summer, although United opted to sign Šeško, it was documented that Amorim instead wanted Ollie Watkins due to the striker’s age and Premier League experience.

With Šeško through the door instead, Kane may now be the perfect addition to this United squad. An elite striker with extensive Premier League experience would be able to finish off many more of the chances United have been creating, and would also help the 22-year-old learn.

As United attempt to climb the table and head back to European spots, having a leader such as Kane join in January to help spearhead Amorim’s rebuild at United would be the perfect signing for the club’s head coach as he looks to stabilise his squad.
