“That’s his job” – Erling Haaland hands Rasmus Højlund advice after Man United goals
Erling Haaland has handed Manchester United’s Rasmus Højlund a piece of advice following his goals under Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.
As Manchester City triumphed over Manchester United in a 3-1 victory at the Etihad last weekend, Erling Haaland scored against Erik ten Hag once again as Ramsus Højlund watched on from the sidelines.
Højlund was unavailable to play against City in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon during the 2024 Manchester Derby but was in attendance alongside Lisandro Martínez to cheer on his team.

Højlund had a lot of comparisons to Haaland during the opening months of his career at Old Trafford, with both players being young, tall, blonde, athletic, and Scandinavian strikers arriving in the Premier League a season apart. They also had the added similarity of playing for the teams they respectively supported as a child.
However, Højlund had a mixed start domestically, only scoring for the first time in his 15th league appearance, but has since started to fly, scoring a total of 13 goals across all competitions for his new club.
Speaking on Tuesday afternoon, Haaland was asked about Højlund, to which the Norweigan striker replied with a piece of advice for the 21-year-old.
“His debut was a bit difficult, but it’s been much better since then,” Haaland told reporters.
“He’s a good player, he’s young, and he needs to continue to develop. As a Manchester United striker, he must also score goals; that’s his job.”
