Dortmund manager Edin Terzić has aimed a fresh dig at Erik ten Hag following Manchester United’s failure to perform in the Champions League ahead of Jadon Sancho’s appearance in the competition’s final.

This season, despite the recent FA Cup win over Manchester City, Manchester United have been overwhelmingly poor almost from start to finish.

The club finished eighth in the Premier League table, which is a fresh wound, but one that has been forgotten slightly is that the side also crashed out of the Champions League in spectacular fashion under Erik ten Hag.

They finished bottom of a group that comprised Bayern Munich, Galatasaray, and FC Copenhagen, knocking themselves out of Europe entirely, and the FA Cup win means they will now compete in the Europa League next campaign instead of UEFA’s highest European club competition.

Borussia Dortmund, on the other hand, booked themselves a ticket to the final at Wembley Stadium this June, with United loanee Jadon Sancho playing a big part in their successes so far.

Ahead of the game, Dortmund boss Edin Terzić aimed a dig at Ten Hag and United’s failure to perform in the Champions League, hinting that Sancho is in a better position to win the competition at Dortmund than at Old Trafford

“He made the decision a couple of years ago to leave us, and he thought it would be a step to help him win the Champions League trophy,” Terzic explained to reporters ahead of the game.

“And now he is back, and he is as close as possible to winning it. We are now on a mission to fulfil our dreams. Jadon wants to fulfil his dream of lifting the Champions League trophy, and hopefully, we can give him that support.”

The Champions League final will take place on Saturday evening. It will kick off at 20:00 BST in London between Dortmund and Real Madrid.
