Manchester United have been provided the perfect transfer update after signing Matheus Cunha and progressing with the Bryan Mbeumo deal.
After a dreadful season, Manchester United have acted quickly this summer to try and improved Ruben Amorim’s underperforming squad and it has started with the attack.
Matheus Cunha is already through the door as the first summer signing and Bryan Mbeumo looks likely to follow him as United prepare to make a second bid to Brentford for the player.
However, even with that Mbeumo deal on the brink of completion, the Reds are desperate to complete more business in the coming weeks.
Viktor Gyökeres has emerged as the main target upfront while it is also being reported that Amorim wants to sign another midfield player to bolster the engine room at Old Trafford.
United fans provided perfect transfer update
Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol has been speaking about United’s transfer dealings and provided an exciting update for United fans.
The reporter has not only suggested his belief that Gyökeres would be willing to join United even though they are without Champions League football but also stated that the Reds will continue to ‘spend big’ after bringing in Cunha and Mbeumo.
In fact, Solhekol is predicting that we are going to see ‘some real statements of intent’ from those at Old Trafford in the transfer window this summer. Some would argue Cunha and Mbeumo already are that.
“United may sign another forward as well, there have been lots of reports today that they may go in for Viktor Gyökeres at Sporting,” the reporter said on Sky Sports.
“He’s somebody who has worked with Ruben Amorim, he knows him well, I’m sure there are lines of communication that are open between him and Viktor Gyökeres and his representatives.
“The big question is would Gyökeres be willing to move to Manchester United when they’re not in Europe, he’s going to have options of playing for Champions League clubs.
“But I still think United have got a big, big pull and what we’re seeing this summer from Manchester United is they are not just going to take what’s happened to them lying down, they’re coming out fighting.
“I think they will spend big in the transfer window this summer, of course they will have to balance their books because of PSR – but I think we’re going to see some real statements of intent from Manchester United because they want to get back and challenge quickly.”
United aren’t wasting time in transfer window
United are obviously going to need sales in order to do the pieces of business suggested but they are definitely in a healthier PSR position than many assumed.
Even just the exits of Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho would leave the Reds with a lot of room to work with in terms of transfer fees.
In terms of the players they can attract, it is clear that top quality talents are still keen to move to Old Trafford and Gyökeres would certainly be that statement of intent mentioned beforehand.

United also need another top midfield player, but the signs are looking positive and it finally seems like the club are no longer wasting time in the market.
