Star manager told why he ‘would fail’ at Man Utd despite wanting to join ‘immediately’, “We have to remember…”

Manchester United have been urged to avoid two of their possible managerial targets this summer following Rúben Amorim’s sacking as head coach.

Following Rúben Amorim’s sacking as Manchester United manager earlier this week, the merry-go-round of who could replace him at Old Trafford has been spinning.

It has been widely reported that United are looking to hire a caretaker manager to take control of the squad until the end of the season, with Ole Gunnar Solskjær or Michael Carrick likely to be the choice, although the prospect of both working together has been ruled out.

As for who will take over in the summer, the media have claimed that England boss Thomas Tuchel is the top choice, but having refused the job in 2024, there is currently little to suggest he’s changed his mind.

Other names, such as Roberto de Zerbi, Oliver Glasner, Andoni Iraola, and Gareth Southgate, have been floated in the media this week.

Enrique wouldn’t fit at United

Another manager who could be available this summer is Paris Saint-Germain boss Luis Enrique, with rumours swirling that he may be looking to join a Premier League club this summer.

However, former United defender Paul Parker has stated that although he admires Enrique, even if he did leave PSG, the power he would request to have at Old Trafford wouldn’t fit at the club.

“First of all, Luis Enrique is not going to leave PSG, but he would also be a bad fit for Man United,” Parker told MyBettingSites. “I love him, but he is very much like Pep Guardiola in the way he manages. He is very intense and he gets rid of people.”

“We saw how he got rid of Gianluigi Donnarumma. He made his mind up and bang, Donnarumma was gone. That doesn`t work at Man United. There is no way he would be able to do that at Man United.

“They won’t give him what he wants. That is a definite no, however, I really like him.”

Xavi wouldn’t work for the same reasons

Expanding on other managerial choices, reports have consistenyly suggested that former Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez would be willing to take the Old Trafford job ‘immidiately’ if it was offered to him.

However, Parker went on to note that even if it became a distinct possibility that Xavi could join the Reds, the same reasons why Enquire wouldn’t pan out also applies to the Spaniard.

“With Xavi, he is very much like both Pep Guardiola and Luis Enrique,” he continued. “We have to remember about Xavi, that he was born into the Barcelona style and system, so he has a very clear idea of what he wants.

“They wouldn’t be able to get him what he wants. He has been coached and mentally formed into the way Pep is, so there is no way it could work, regardless of his qualities as a manager.”
