Soyfan Amrabat’s Manchester United return is now a “concrete possibility” on one condition
Sofyan Amrabat’s return to Manchester United is a “concrete possibility” despite Erik ten Hag’s club not activating their buy opinion in his loan contract.
On the final day of the 2023 transfer window, Manchester United secured Moroccan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat on loan from Fiorentina for an initial fee of £8.5 million, with an option to buy for an additional £20 million. Initially, it was anticipated that United would exercise this option.
However, Amrabat’s time at Old Trafford was plagued by poor form and injuries. He made only 30 appearances across all competitions, starting in 17 matches, and accumulated fewer minutes than Jonny Evans throughout the season.

By March 2024, it seemed almost certain to fans that the buy option for Amrabat would not be triggered. Yet, his improved performances towards the season’s end, especially in the FA Cup final, prompted some to believe he could still be an asset to the team.
Despite this, United did not activate his buy option, and Amrabat’s loan contract expired at the end of last month. However, Football agent and intermediary Giulio Tedeschi has now told Firenze Viola that it is possible he will return to Old Trafford.
“Right now, in my opinion, there is a concrete possibility of bringing Amrabat back to Manchester United,” Tedeschi said.
“In my opinion, there was some doubt also because it was not known whether Ten Hag would stay. Now that it’s certain that he will stay, there are grounds to think about bringing Amrabat back even on loan with obligation or at a lower figure. The United solution is the easiest.”
Tedeschi went on to explain that he believes the Serie A outfit are unlikely to allow Amrabat to leave for as low as €10 million (£8.4 million) in this window, meaning a final fee is still a significant condition in any potential transfer.
“I believe Amrabat’s renewal with Fiorentina until 2026 was done deliberately to help La Viola gain strength. It’s a tactic that clubs do to gain bargaining power.
“If it’s not €20 million, it won’t even be €10 million. It will be a mid-range figure, trying to maximize his sale,” Tedeschi explained.
