Sofyan Amrabat’s latest move suggests “joining Manchester United” claim may be premature
Sofyan Amrabat is said to be a top target for Erik ten Hag at Manchester United, with the Dutchman keen to add to his midfield this summer.
Reports emerging on Monday evening from Moroccan journalist Izem Anass claim that Sofyan Amrabat is joining Manchester United this summer, with Erik ten Hag having secured his priority midfield target.
United are looking to add players to further strengthen their midfield options after signing Mason Mount earlier this window.

However, despite these claims, it has been reported by Football Italia that Amrabat has today instead joined his current club Fiorentina for their pre-season training ahead of next season.
It could be suggested that the claim stating that Amrabat will join United may be premature, considering that there are yet to be reports from English journalists that United have made a bid.
Also, it feels somewhat unlikely that Amrabat would have returned to training with his current club if his exit was as close as has been suggested.
However, it should be noted that there has been been contact on Monday between United and Amrabat, with the player having chosen to join the club according to Alfredo Pedulla – it seems that United and Fiorentina still need to agree on a fee.
This may therefore be what Anass was originally referring to – that the player has chosen to join the club himself, rather than the move having been completed.
Other Italian outlets have claimed in previous days that an initial bid for Amrabat was rejected, with United’s offer far from the valuation that Fiorentina are asking for.
It is claimed that Fiorentina have asked for a fee of around £26 million pounds for the player, with Ten Hag and United simultaneously negotiating a deal for Atalanta’s Rasmus Højlund.
Amrabat’s current contract expires in 2024, however, Fiorentina do have the option to extend it for a further season, should they wish to trigger it.
